The other week I was watching Oprah and it was her favorite things episode. I'm always jealous of the audience because I want so bad to be there, but instead I watch with eagle eyes to see 1. what I can afford, 2. what I would like, and 3. what I WILL get. This year she gave away a diamond watch, it only matched one of the criteria - number 2. As did the burberry coat and purse and cashmere sweater ($498!!). What did catch my eye was the croissants. She said they were the best she's ever had. I just had to know. I ordered a box of the chocolate croissants from Williams Sonoma and waited eagerly for their arrival. I knew I had to be slick because I didn't know to justify paying $50 bucks for 15 croissants, even if they had chocolate in them. I thought that once they came in, I could just blend them into our freezer (they came frozen) and Matt would be none the wiser. Did not happen that way. Matt was taking Guinness out to potty and the box was sitting right at the door. When I told him they were croissants he asked me how much I paid. I tried to brush around it, but then he just got more curious. Especially as he puts it "we live near 500 bakeries where we can get fresh croissants!" When he found out that they were $50 (damn credit card! haha) he about freaked out and asked me "what, did OPRAH tell you to buy these?" GASP. i.was.caught. all I could do was hang my head and say "yes." ... but you know what? I'm not ashamed, those ARE the best damn croissants I've ever had!
