it only happens if you hear it

G: Mama do you fart?

Me: Yes, everyone farts.

G: How come I never hear it?

Me: Because I try to do it quietly or I go to the bathroom when I have to do that.

G: If you can't hear it then how do you know you farted?

That's right, G.  It only happens if you hear it.
