Hurricane Katrina

Today is the 4th anniversay of Hurricane Katrina. Not something I'd like to live through again. Below are some pictures from then.


This is some of the major damage we got in our master bedroom. Luckily the night that happened was the first night we decided to sleep at Matt's parents house. At the time Gwyneth was sleeping with us and that would have been pretty traumatic with a 10 month old in the bed!

This is a picture of Gwyneth. Ten months at the time. I thought her bib said it all about the situation we were in. No water .. no power .. for two weeks! At least she still had a smile on her face!

Below is what used to be our friend's parent's house. Their house was literally washed off it's foundation. It was very surreal. They have since rebuilt on the same lot, but now their home is on piers.

Among the ruin of what used to be their house I found this VHS tape sticking out. I found it profoundly sad.

On a slightly lighter note. Matt was helping clear out another friend's house that was still standing, but had major water damage. It was bascially four walls with nothing left inside. Amongst their destruction was naked picutres of the guy from the 1970's complete with afro. Hilarious. Funny what mother natures decides to keep around.
